Introduction

Our SEN Information Report – which is part of Durham County Council’s Local Offer – provides details about how we support children and young people with Special Educational Needs in our school.

The SEN Information Report was reviewed and updated on 5th September 2019.

Belmont Community School has high ambitions for all students no matter what their identifying characteristics and will aim to provide the correct environment for them to participate and achieve in every aspect of school life.

The school is fully committed to the inclusion of all students. There is equality of opportunity for all students to follow a full national curriculum timetable, to take part in extracurricular activities and the full life of the school. The individual needs of all students at Belmont will be met so that they are able to benefit as fully as possible from the education they receive and fulfil their individual potential. We recognise the individual needs of all students and maximise everyone’s potential: every teacher and member of staff shares these responsibilities. We aim to remove as many barriers to learning as possible for all students.

This SEND Information Report should be read alongside the school’s SEND Policy, the Equalities Information and Objectives and the Accessibility Plan which can be found in the School Policies section of our website.
